Testimonials for Jason Low

Kirby Ng, NYJC, 2014 (H2)
by Jason Low 8 years ago

Economics was a new and tough subject for me at JC. It was appealing and interesting to me, yet it also felt so complicated, tough to understand and handle at first. Jason made Economics feel so alive and interesting by showing me how to apply the framework and knowledge that I have learnt to the real world, be it explaining the reasons for rising oil prices or analysing the Eurozone Debt Crisis etc.

Jason’s teaching pace is optimal. He knows when to go fast or slow. I believe that most of the time students don’t know what they don’t know. Jason deals with this effectively, patiently answering and clearing our doubts or any questions we bombard him with. Perhaps the most useful takeaway that I have gained from his lessons is that he suggests and teaches students how to organise notes for the various topics. This makes understanding and learning much simpler as some topics are best represented by different forms of notes, be it tables or mindmaps.

Lastly, Jason focuses on a key factor that I feel is often neglected by my school teachers and peers – Examination Skills. Jason often reminds students that it doesn’t matter how much we know or how much we study if we are unable to display our knowledge in the exam paper. Hence, time management and our choice of words when writing the essay is crucial. This is something which I was unable to realise by myself, and my lessons with Jason taught me that. Hence I was able to improve my grades for Economics.

As a tutor, Jason is also able to motivate students by his patience and passion for teaching the subject. Jason was able to erase the doubts and respective problems for me and my peers that prevented us from scoring. If you are looking for someone to guide you on your road to A for Economics, Jason is the man for you.
