More Information About This Class
This class will teach students to draw inferences from what they read, think critically and understand global and specific intents of the subject matter.
Equipped with a greater understanding of texts and concepts, students will be able to improve on their comprehension of other subjects as well, such as mathematics and science.
This course also serves as a preparatory course for Secondary level, at which humanities subjects requiring a deeper understanding of contents are introduced to students.
Essay writing serves as the foundation of how one thinks and describes himself and his environment to an audience.
Through the introduction of systematic writing styles and creative tools, students will change the way they express themselves and find it easier to structure their ideas and thought processes.
As a preparatory course for Secondary level, the lessons learned will aid the student in structuring and explaining concepts and opinions.
The first class would consist of a test to understand student levels in order to develop a learning plan based on their needs
A lesson plan for a typical class would consist of reviews / refreshers, learning and understanding concepts, application of learning and a little home work to do before the next class.
Home work is designed to be completed in under one hour and helps to reinforce learning away from the class.
Comfortable and clean air conditioned learning environment for conducive learning.
Long and large wooden table with 4 wooden seats on each side encourages discussion and personal expression with ample space for each individual.
Note that a cat lives on the premises and will be segregated during class hours.
As a Contracts Manager and freelance copywriter for 7 years, learning is part and parcel of my everyday.
Having attended courses for contracts reading as well as intentional writing, I have acquired tools and concepts for the purposes of comprehension and writing.
With my experience in relief teaching in primary schools as well as private tuition, I am well poised to translate and pass on these skills to my students.
English comprehension and composition writing is often quite easily overlooked in favour of hard sciences and mathematics due to its apparently uncomplicated nature to adults.
It is these very skills that allow students to understand the complex concepts and then structure their response.
My mission is to provide every student coming through my door with the right tools to succeed.
