MASTERING SECONDARY ENGLISH
The foundational course for all Secondary students who have to prepare for the increased demands of Upper Secondary and eventually, the GCE 'O' Level English examination.
Duration: 2 hours per class.
This course is for lower Secondary students who have crossed over from the Primary school system, and now confront the increased demands of learning and mastering Secondary English. In this class, students will learn and get a firm grasp of the foundational basics of the English language. There is no short cut when you are learning to master a language. You must get the basics right. The best way to mastering the English language, is through constant and intensive practice.
There will be many exercises, of both composition writing and comprehension passages. Students will learn and practise specific aspects of grammar that will help them to write composition essays, and better understand comprehension passages. They will be coached on what makes a good sentence, or good structured writing. They will learn how to organize their thoughts, and express themselves in clear, logical step-by-step writing.
Teaching techniques and strategies will be adjusted to meet each student's needs, and each student's grasp of the English language.

Tutor's Experience
An editor who has reported on Asian energy markets for over a decade. I have been tutoring since 2007 (10+ years experience). I'm currently providing full-time tuition in English at primary and secondary levels and the GCE 'A ' Level General Paper. I also teach IGCSE English and English A: Language and Literature at the Students' Inn.
I have coached many students over the years. My students have not only made academic progress, scoring A-B grades, but have also developed critical thinking and analytical skills, and shown maturity in their writing.
Besides helping the students to get a firm grasp of the foundational basics of the English language; my focus has been to help students hone their writing styles, to master clarity of expression, and be more articulate in their communication (speech/writing). I understand that each student is different, hence the teaching strategy will vary depending on the student's level of mastery, learning capacity and personality.
