More Information About This Class
The children will enjoy a thematic learning experience through stories, videos and hands-on activities. The lessons are designed to appeal to children with diverse learning styles and attention span. This is followed by a structured series of activities to instil comprehension skills and vocabulary-building.
In the process of exploring the themes and shifting the focus to writing, the children will acquire or strengthen essential grammar skills such as subject-verb agreement, punctuation, sentence construction, synthesis. These skills will enable the children to construct grammatically correct and expressive sentences.
As the learning experience shifts gears into the main writing per se, the children will develop skills in planning and structuring their writing and adding details and expanding on existing ideas.
Tutor's Experience
I have close to 15 years of teaching experience and aspire to develop children into confident writers and independent learners of the English Language.
Having taught children of various abilities from the foundation programme to the best classes, I believe that learning should be a happy, fun and sweet experience. When children feel safe, they are more willing to explore, question and experiment.
I have also taught foreign students in school, namely students from Korea, China, Japan and Philippines. I really enjoy teaching and love to see my students' face light up when they understand the concepts or when they realised they have improved.
I appreciate the inquisitive mind and revel in challenging children to think out of the box. I am known to be patient, creative and my lessons are often not bound by the curriculum.
As a parent myself, I understand your concerns and have witnessed the impact of a solid foundation. I coached my own children and they have obtained distinctions in English in their major examinations.
