Mad4Math is honestly more of a business than an education center.

With only one main teacher (the o' so wonderful Ms. Chyroline Tan), the quality of education you receive here will be surface-level at best.

She packs as many people (8-15) into one lesson such that her attention is extremely divided amongst students, such as packing IB and A level students into her tertiary education lessons; her attempt to cover both different education systems at times means you dont learn topics in depth.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Their method of teaching goes as follow:

1. You receive notes (sometimes hardcopy, most of the times pdf via. airdrop) and then you shut up and listen to her explain about the things. These notes are summaries and honestly don't tell you anything in-depth about how things work, so as a starter, the only way to understand is through pure memory work.

2. Afterwards, she will go through the questions that comes with the notes; and when I mean by go through, I mean copy the answers that she will flash and explain through (not in-depth because that takes too long and she wants to finish in time). Don't even think about asking questions at this stage as well, you shut up and listen.

3. Then, after she has finished the paper, the next following 2-3 lessons will be you doing your work/tutorial for that topic. (That's right, you will be spending $240 - 360 to do homework.)

Their rationale for this is that you learn through practice. If you have questions, you ask and she will explain for you. But as mentioned earlier, there is 1 teacher and 15 students, and a really biased teacher as well. You will have to 'queue up' for her to answer you, and she will answer those she favors first (normally the IB first), and then she'll come to you; By then, it has been 1 hr and you don't know what your question was, or that you have wasted far more time than you should figuring out and solving the question.

And if you have questions nearing the end of class, she will not extend the time for you and will tell you to text her the question. However, even if you text her, she at most bluetick you and not answer your questions until the next lesson, unless if it is a question that interests her. (Basically, her way of saying "we discuss about this in text" is a formal way to brushing you away).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Their bottom line for people who dont understand things yet is additional revision lessons on top of normal lessons in the holidays (same rate of $120/ 2hr), which only consists of a revision worksheet which she will make you copy the answers and if you are lucky, get some small parts of a question explained for you.

While people do perform in her center, it is mainly because these people put in the extra time to study math on top of the additional revisions and classes in Mad4Math just to understand the topics, which honestly defeats the purpose of paying a $120 premium to receive tuition here. (Basically Mad4Math is AfterSkool but even worse)

As entitled as I sound, I do empathise with the situation Ms Tan is in: Not only did she have to deal with my antics at the start, she has to explain to so many people that it is hard to be focused on one single student only. However, this does not discount her double standards (to not only me, but also many others as well) when it comes to quality of education she provides to her students (If you can't understand a topic, she will throw you in a ditch and make her interns teach you instead. If you excel in Math, she will treat you as well as you are her own child).

I am still appreciative of her teachings (obviously not math) as she did teach me to be a better / more considerate person, but I don't that that is what I intended to learn in her class.

Hence, if you are looking to burn $120 a lesson to do your homework and honestly learn things at the surface level with a teacher whose attention is divided by ten, Mad4Math is the place for you. If not, there are better and cheaper alternatives to this place that not only can provide a more in-depth understanding for you but also treat you with respect in understanding that you are a student and not a cash-cow.

tl;dr - Bad. Mad4Math is more Mad4Money than they are Mad4Math.
